Backend Engineer (3–5 Years Experience | Medior) (m/f)

We are looking for a backend engineer to design, build, and scale high-performance systems handling large volumes of requests.

This role is ideal for engineers who enjoy understanding how systems work under the hood, solving performance challenges, and continuously learning. We value strong programming fundamentals and system thinking more than experience with any specific language — Java is a plus, but not a requirement.

Responsibilities:

• Design and develop scalable backend systems
• Build and optimize high-throughput APIs
• Architect systems capable of handling large-scale traffic with low latency
• Take ownership of features and services — from design to production
• Deliver reliable, production-ready solutions
• Optimize performance across application, server, and database layers
• Work on concurrency, parallel processing, and efficient resource usage
• Identify bottlenecks and continuously improve system performance
• Deploy and scale services in cloud environments (AWS or similar)
• Contribute to observability (logging, metrics, tracing)
• Troubleshoot and resolve production issues
• Collaborate with team members and contribute to engineering standards

Requirements:

• 3–5 years of backend development experience
• Strong understanding of programming fundamentals and system design
• Experience building and optimizing APIs and backend services
• Understanding of concurrency, multithreading, and performance principles
• Knowledge of how systems behave under load (latency, throughput, scaling)
• Experience working with databases (query optimization, indexing, scaling)
• Familiarity with cloud environments (AWS or similar)
• Experience with Docker and CI/CD pipelines
• Strong problem-solving skills and ownership mindset
• Fluent English (written and spoken)

Must-Have Mindset:

• Strong interest in how software systems work end-to-end
• Willingness to learn new technologies and adapt quickly
• Familiarity with AI tools and modern software development approaches (AI-assisted development, automation, etc.)
• Curiosity and drive to improve performance, scalability, and reliability

Nice to Have:

• Experience with Java / Spring Boot
• Reactive programming (e.g., WebFlux, Reactor)
• Knowledge of modern concurrency models (e.g., virtual threads / Project Loom)
• Experience with event-driven systems (Kafka, SQS, etc.)
• Familiarity with caching strategies (Redis)
• Experience with monitoring tools (Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry)
• Experience in fintech or regulated environments

Education:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field (preferred)
