Location: Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina
Language: English (fluent proficiency required)
About the Role:
We are an engineering company delivering projects in the marine and offshore sector – from fishery equipment and deck machinery to large marine cranes and components for offshore rigs. We are seeking a Structural Engineer to join our team and contribute to the design and analysis of specialized equipment. If you have a strong foundation in structural engineering and are eager to apply your skills to challenging mechanical structures, we want to hear from you!
Key Responsibilities:
- Structural Analysis & Design: Perform detailed calculations, simulations, and finite element analysis (FEA) for lifting equipment, and other machinery components to ensure strength and safety under various load conditions.
- Project Development: Support the design of custom equipment from concept through prototype and final production. Work closely with senior engineers to develop innovative solutions and participate in design reviews.
- Technical Documentation: Prepare structural calculation reports, CAD drawings, and material specifications for each project. Ensure all designs meet relevant standards and prepare documentation for third-party certification or class approval (e.g. DNV or other classification societies).
- Collaboration: Work in tandem with mechanical designers and project managers to integrate structural requirements into overall machine design.
- Quality & Compliance: Incorporate applicable industry standards and safety regulations into designs. (Prior exposure to standards for offshore/marine equipment, is a plus.) Assist in addressing any structural issues during fabrication and testing and support troubleshooting of any field issues or failures to improve future designs.
- Occasional Site Support: Travel to project sites or partner facilities to participate in inspections, installations, or client meetings as needed.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Structural Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering (Structural emphasis), or a related field.
- Experience: 3+ years of experience in structural engineering design and analysis. Experience with heavy equipment, cranes, or steel structures is an advantage. Experience in marine or offshore projects is a bonus but not required – we value solid structural fundamentals and will provide domain-specific training as needed.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in structural analysis tools and FEA software (e.g. ANSYS, SolidWorks Simulation, or similar). Ability to perform hand calculations and understanding of engineering mechanics is essential. Experience with CAD software for creating and reviewing designs (AutoCAD, SolidWorks or equivalent) is required.
- Knowledge: Familiarity with European and international design codes for steel structures. Any knowledge of marine/offshore engineering standards or certification processes (e.g. DNV, ABS, API 2C) is highly valued but can be learned on the job. Understanding of fatigue analysis and failure modes in metal structures is a plus.
- Language: Fluent English (written and spoken) is mandatory, as you will coordinate with international teams and clients.
- Soft Skills: Excellent problem-solving aptitude and attention to detail. Good communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional team. A proactive mindset with eagerness to learn new industry-specific concepts.
What We Offer:
- International Projects: Hands-on involvement in projects for leading marine and offshore companies. You’ll gain experience with advanced equipment used worldwide.
- Professional Development: On-the-job training in marine/offshore standards and the opportunity to attend occasional training or site visits abroad. We support continuous learning and will help you build expertise in this niche field.
- Work Environment: A friendly, growth-oriented work culture. Our office works closely with our International partners, giving a unique mix of local teamwork and international exposure.
- Competitive Benefits: We offer a competitive salary (in line with experience) and benefits package. This includes paid travel for any required site visits, health insurance, and generous leave. English will be the primary working language in our office.
How to Apply:
If you’re excited by the challenge of designing heavy marine equipment and meet the above qualifications, we encourage you to apply. Please send your CV (resume) in English to [email protected] with the subject line “Structural Engineer Application – [Your Name]” or via: "Prijavite se na oglas" option.
Application Deadline: 23.11.2025.
